The Grant County Prairie Wind Players Community Theatre is an amateur theatre group which was formed in Barrett in 1979.  We are a legally structured non-profit corporation with by-laws, a board of directors, and a growing membership. Our mission is to produce, promote, and present cultural arts programs with a primary emphasis on the dramatic arts. Our organization offers opportunities for training and growth in the performing arts. We are supported by individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the area. With continued support of grant funds from the Lake Region Arts Council, we have been able to develop and strengthen our resources to succeed with a number of challenging productions.

The Prairie Wind Players has a long tradition of dinner theatre, along with general admission performances. Since 1979 we have done scores of plays. These have varied from mysteries, dramas, and musicals to comedies, melodramas, and children's stories. The cast sizes have ranged from two up to over 100 in the children's plays and broadway musicals. We have also sponsored several performing arts groups for public entertainment and offer theatre related workshops for organizations and community education classes. We publish a quarterly newsletter to keep the members and the public up-to-date on the activities of the organization.

Our organization is for the young and the young at heart. It is for those who like to act, sing, dance, build and paint sets, sew costumes, do make-up, read plays, play musical instruments, write plays and music or operate sound and lights. And it is for those who like to watch and be entertained.
